Batu Lintang Liberation Anniversary

Gita Brooke, widow of Anthony Brooke, Rajah Muda, was invited to speak, and afterwards to lay a wreath at a ceremony to commemorate the 68th anniversary of the liberation of Batu Lintang prisoner of war camp in Kuching. On Sept 11th, 1945, allied POWs, civilian internees, women and children were freed after being held captive since 1942, following Japan’s unconditional surrender.
