Travels to Brooke Ancestral Homes Part 1: Frognal House, Berkshire

Here, her parents Sir Walter and Lady Palmer entertained an eclectic circle of writers and artists at the turn of the 20th century. The location of the house, just a mile from Ranee Margaret's house at Ascot, brought the young Gladys to the notice of the Ranee, who invited her to join her Grey Friars Orchestra, and to be introduced to the Ranee's son, Bertram, the Tuan Muda, whom she married. In 1912 the couple's son Anthony, the Rajah Muda, was born.
