Gong Xi Fa Cai and every good wish to our friends in Sarawak celebrating Chinese New Year for the next 15 days.
At this time, it is fitting to reflect on Chinese pioneer towns which form part of the architectural treasures of Sarawak, and the community of Siniawan, established by Hakka settlers more than a century ago. Siniawan sets a fine example of how to keep such places alive. The Night Market, which runs on 3 nights each week, has breathed new life into this historic town, and it is wonderful to see three local communities - Chinese, Malay and Bidayuh, working together to make it a success.
