Brooke Museums identified the opportunity to converge two key issues facing today’s society – the potential loss of intangible cultural heritage (in this case, the art of keringkam) and life’s challenges facing some of our youth and thus ASPIRE was conceived. Sponsored by Yayasan Hasanah and led by Brooke Museums, the ASPIRE programme aims to preserve the art of keringkam to minimise the risk of its decline through training 50 youths from local institutions over a 24-month period.
